Paddington Alive Launches

William StreetRosemount Sydney Fashion Festival is finally upon us and you’re bound to see plenty of immaculate women strutting the streets of Sydney making you wonder how they manage to look like they’ve stepped straight out of a hair salon at 3pm on a Tuesday (Answer: they probably have just stepped out of a hair salon).

There’s plenty going on around town to keep you entertained, including Paddington Alive, a 6 day public event showcasing the “cultural diversification that has made Paddington the fashion Mecca of Australia”.

In other words this is a festival dedicated to celebrating the edgy fashion boutiques, art galleries, bars, cafes and restaurants which make Paddington…well, the Paddington we know and love.

Our pick of the top events include:

“In Conversation” Series (Thursday, 26 August 2010) – giving you up close and personal access to some of Australia’s leading fashion designers. Hear what designers such as Camilla, Bianca Spender, Leona Edmiston, High Tea with Mrs Woo and Mrs Press have to say about the fashion industry.

William Street Laneway Festival (Saturday, 28 August 2010) – William Street will be blocked off for pedestrian access only and will feature installations, live music and more.

Let It Bleed – The Rolling Stones 1969 U.S Tour by Ethan Russell (Until 5 October 2010) – an exhibition of photographs that provide a behind the scenes look at “the worlds greatest rock and roll band” – at the apex of the 1960’s music scene. Created by the only photographer to shoot covers for the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the Who, the show also includes some of the last photos taken of Brian Jones before his death. www.blender.com.au
