Ride-On-Dinner

Ride-On-DinnerIt’s innovative dining with strangers combined with design, architecture and sustainability. Oh and you’ll experience it entirely by bicycle. Got you curious?

This Saturday 14 August, 2010 Sydney’s streets will be taken over by the unique Ride-On-Dinner, a one-off urban meal adventure which leads participants on a bicycle tour of inner Sydney suburbs.

Young designer Anthony Hamilton-Smith (winner of the Design Now 2009 competition for his “slow kitchen”) will lead a group of up to 80 cyclists with his purpose built trailer that doubles as a road-side kitchen in tow.

He’ll use his “pedal-powered kitchen” to cook for you, drawing on the principles of the slow food movement. Dinner is vegetarian (often vegan). Think mushroom risotto, choc coated dried oranges, hot apple juice and saganaki.

But while the food is important, it’s all about the journey. With your new community of friends, the surrounding environment will become your dining room with each meal served in a different location. Ride on!

Ride-On-Dinner – Saturday 14 August, 2010
