Books & Nooks Launches
Just like classic couples Romeo & Juliet, Mark Antony & Cleopatra and Paris & Helen of Troy, Books & Nooks is the perfect pairing – a combination of two much-loved pastimes…reading and dining out.
Launching in October, Books & Nooks is a passion project for founder, Angela Purnell, who enjoys bringing together likeminded people that share a love of reading, good food and more often than not, a fine drop of wine. It’s all about widening your social sphere, stepping out of your comfort zone and having an opinion.
Packages start at $65 and include a new fiction title beautifully packaged and delivered to your door and ticket to a two hour hosted book club event at a unique Sydney nook – from stylish bars and restaurants to quaint bookshop cafes, art galleries and more left-of-centre venues inspired by the avant-garde guerrilla dining movement.
The first event is a Champagne Brunch on 17 October, 2010 at Ampersand Café Bookstore in Paddington where attendees will gather in their quirky private room lined with second hand books and lit with vintage chandeliers. The book on review is the new romantic comedy “All the Hopeful Lovers” by BAFTA winning screenwriter, William Nicholson.
