Newtown’s Narrowest Bar

Corridor

CorridorThere’s a newish bar on the scene, and it definitely stands apart from the rest.

True to its name, Corridor is a narrow pigeonhole-in-the wall. Blink and you might miss it. A dark wooden and dimly lit converted terrace with eclectic art adorning the walls, it fits perfectly into nouveau Newtown.

The friendly bar staff boast some of the tastiest cocktails around.  Pick your choice of any fresh delicious fruit to be pummeled, crushed and whizzed into a pure health blast, with a cheeky added kick of Violet Liqueur and Grey Goose.

Corridor are mojito artistes extraordinaires; request a flavour and you shall receive it. Passionfruit, pineapple, you name it. You’ll be greeted with a complicitous smile from the bartender if you ask for the “Lexilicious” – it’s the Corridor’s finest cocktail. Rye whisky, freshly juiced apple, strawberry and mint with lime and raw sugar muddled together…

The vibe is super chilled, unpretentious and homely. Take a seat at the front of the bar for perfect people-watching or head upstairs where groups of friends hang out on the outdoor deck (adorned with heaters of course), enjoying bottles of red and a cheese plate under the starry sky.

The eats are good value. Chicken and beef pot pies are not to be missed, a mini mountain of puff pastry scrumptiousness is a delightful winter warmer.

An adjoining room full of Edwardian style lounges adds to the relaxed and chilled out vibe. You could almost be hanging out in a friend’s living room….

It’s your very own Newtown niche.

Corridor – 153a King Street, squeezed in between the Marlborough Hotel and Kuletos….
