It’s a Small Bar After All

Small Bar

Small Bar

As they say, good things come in small packages. And Crows Nest’s Small Bar is certainly a little bundle of joy.

Yes, yes, we’ve heard all about Sydney’s small bar ‘revolution’. But this latest addition really takes the cake (or cupcake, considering its size). Small Bar is cool without being pretentious, like many of its inner-city imitations, and has rescued the North Shore from its daggy depths. Never underestimate the power of the petite.

Even mid-week this pocket rocket is full to the brim. And why wouldn’t it be, with its living room feel and warm mood-lighting?

Guests are greeted by the bar and a slender walkway, leading to the leafy courtyard out back. Amongst the twinkling tea lights, groups gather at small tables, whilst benches are for lounging about. Easy to do, especially on live music Sundays, where languid arvos stretch into evening.

Its popularity is also probably owed to its food and drink list, which is clear-cut but quality. Those with ‘sharing is caring’ as their motto, make for the chicken skewers, antipasto or cheese plate. For something more substantial, ‘meals for one’ like hearty burgers and risotto will surely satisfy. Or, the Ploughman’s Lunch is perfect for picking at a variety of goodies.

Since it’s a wine bar, make the most of the different drops on offer. Not to worry non-vino drinkers- there are beers and spirits too, so everyone is happy.

After all, it’s the small things that count.

Here! Here! Small Bar Crows Nest is a fine way to spend a lazy afternoon or a night out with friends without the dodgy drunkards, cavenous interiors and soul-less ambience.

Went to Small Bar after seeing it advertised on Cherrypicked.

Absolutely loved it. Had a quiet lunch and a lovely glass of pink! Great food and innovative dishes. Loved the courtyard and the waiter was nice enough to move the heater closer to our table so we kept toasty!

    Definitely recommended!
