The Victoria Room Performance Carnival
The Kings Cross circus featured on Underbelly is no longer limited to Sunday night telly. Now, Darlinghurst’s The Victoria Room is bringing its own circus to life in a Spiegeltent-meets-Bohemia spectacular.
With the Performance Carnival kicking off at 6pm, Sunday nights will never be the same. Especially with each week’s surprise lineup of talent; mixing local Sydney artists and musicians. Grab a ringside seat for an evening of entertainment, jam-packed with several exotic performances. The venue’s British Raj backdrop fits the theatrics as flawlessly as a clown’s red nose.
Although, there ain’t no clowns at this special circus. Instead, there are the less-alarming roving mime artists (who may creep up close to your cocktail), the sashaying and shimmying Ulah who belly dances while artfully balancing a sword on her head, saucy Burlesque beauty, Sarina del Fuego, who excites with her seductive 1920’s feather fan dance, fearless fire performers, French cabaret… and a tentful of other acts.
While the feathers fly, sample the Southern Mediterranean Sunday Supper Menu alongside the award-winning cocktails. Think Tasting Plates, Trio of Mushrooms with Porcini Sage Butter on Parmesan Polenta, Sweet Spanish Piquillo Peppers filled with Goats Chevre and Basil, and Four Cheese Fondue with Fennel Sausage, Roast Potato, Witlof and Herb Bread. For something sweet, try the Rich Apple Tarte Tatin with Double Cream or Hazelnut Praline Pistachio Kulfi and Rose Ice Cream. Otherwise, why not finish the weekend wickedly with the Bitter Chocolate Fondue; complete with banana bread, tempura bananas and fruit?
Settled in on the Victoria Room’s comfy couches, with entertainment complimentary, there’s no need to mention work on Monday. Instead why don’t you run away with the circus…
