Check Mate

The Winery

The Winery Chess BoardWho says grown-ups actually have to grow up? Those rules definitely don’t apply at The Winery, Surry Hills’ own adult playground. The giant chessboard out front says it all…

With its spacious layout over 2 levels filled with eclectic Parisian bistro style furniture, The Winery can be thought of as the ‘big sister’ of the Gazebos. Though, it’s just as quirky and cool; brilliant for both groups and intimate occasions over candlelight.

Just like the wine garden’s fellow Gazebo offshoots, there’s fun to be had every day of the week. Think Monday ‘2 for 1 Mussels’, Thursday ‘Sticky and Stinky’ cheese tasting and of course the latest addition to their daily line up – the Friday ‘Long Lunch’…not that it ever went out of fashion, but now lunching into the wee hours of the afternoon is well and truly back and the perfect place to chill out and relax this Good Friday.

Hanging around this weekend and stuck for something to do? Well put on your finery and head to the Winery for ‘Sunday Best’ chess games; the perfect way to pray and play the weekend away. Served with a side of $15 Sangria or Pimms of course. And with dinner covered ($23 Sunday Roast), The Winery will become your Sunday standard; Hills inhabitant or not.
